The Klebanov Family Foundation

Supporting Children, Science, and Recovery in Ukraine

About the Foundation

The Klebanov Family Foundation is a U.S.-based private foundation supporting Ukraine’s long-term recovery through a combination of direct giving, targeted grants, and program support. Our work reflects our family’s roots in Odesa — and our enduring commitment to strengthening Ukraine’s future.

Areas of Focus

  • Children affected by war, poverty, or loss
  • Scientists and researchers striving to continue meaningful work in Ukraine

We also retain the flexibility to support other urgent needs or high-impact initiatives aligned with our values. The foundation is privately funded and independently governed.

Why Ukraine? Why Now?

Our family’s history is rooted in Ukraine. We know the country not as observers, but as descendants. We understand its fragilities and its strength. And we believe that building its future will require not just foreign aid or reconstruction funds — but patient, personal, purposeful philanthropy.

We focus on areas we understand, with people we trust, and programs that demonstrate long-term impact. While much of our work centers on Odesa, our mission spans the entire country.

We believe that enduring impact comes from clarity, consistency, and trusted partnerships.

on supporting human capital, not just physical reconstruction

Long-Term

designed for recovery that continues well beyond the war

What We Support

Children

We support programs that provide care, safety, and opportunity for children whose lives have been disrupted by the war.

These may include:

  • Orphanages and family-style homes
  • Nutritional, hygiene, or material support
  • Mental health services and trauma-informed care
  • Education reintegration and tutoring
  • Spaces for play, learning, and creative expression

While we often prioritize Odesa-based programs, we are open to working across Ukraine where the need is clear and partners are strong.

Science and Research

We also provide grants to Ukrainian scientists, researchers, and educators — with the goal of maintaining continuity in critical academic work.

This includes:

  • Individual and institutional research grants
  • Access to journals, labs, and academic tools
  • Cross-border collaboration and mentorship
  • Educational outreach or public science initiatives

We especially support scientists working within Ukraine’s borders, but welcome partnerships and co-investment opportunities with global academic institutions.

For Grantees and Partners

We are actively reviewing new opportunities aligned with our mission. If you are a Ukrainian nonprofit, academic, or institution working in one of our focus areas, we welcome direct contact.

For Donors

The Klebanov Family Foundation is currently privately funded. While we do not accept outside donations, we are happy to refer aligned donors to trusted Ukrainian partners in our network.

    Looking Ahead

This foundation was created not in response to a single moment — but to help Ukraine navigate the long road to recovery. We are focused on children and science because they shape what comes next — but remain open to evolving needs.

We believe in careful, steady giving. In investing in people and knowledge. In returning, through philanthropy, to where we came from — and building forward from there.

If your work, vision, or values align, we invite you to connect.
